A City That Never Sleeps

Tel Aviv is known as one of the most beautiful vacation spots in the world, but its epic entrepreneurial spirit takes the cake for its true value. Openness and innovation can be felt anywhere, from coffee shops to the ubiquitous shared workspaces on every block, the Silicon Wadi would make any founder feel at home. The vibrant city also is home to various cultures, unique attitudes and innovative technologies. The eclectic population will intrigue even the most conservative individual and the food that results from this melting pot of cultures can’t be beat. The Tel Aviv nightlife is wild, the beaches are breathtaking and the Saturday morning silence makes even the atheists feel spiritual. Overall, Tel Aviv is definitely a city you’ll want to visit (and likely return to) in your lifetime.

Outstanding Restaurants

The delicious food in Tel Aviv is easily its best asset that only leaves foodies wanting more. Considered to have the best food in the world, Tel Aviv is home to top world renowned chefs, making for incredible culinary experiences. Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food is undoubtedly incredible. Hummus, falafel, sabich (an eggplant and hard-boiled egg sandwich), and schnitzel (fried chicken) serve as amazing street food and are delicious, cheap, and easy to sink your teeth into. Want something a bit classier? No problem, Tel Aviv has over 100 sushi restaurants. Feeling Italian? Pronto is an authentic trattoria/restaurant modeled after the most famous eateries in Rome. It’s safe to say, when in Tel Aviv, you’ve got feasting options.

The White City: A Bauhaus Lovers Fantasy

Some of the most incredible architecture in the world is based in Tel Aviv thanks to its early European immigration. Tel Aviv has a collection of over 4,000 buildings that were built in the 1930s based on the international style known as Bauhaus. This aesthetic paints the city and you can learn more by taking a guided Bauhaus Tour certified by the Israel Ministry of Tourism. Tel Aviv has the most Bauhaus buildings in the world, so it is definitely worth it for any architecture fan or aficionado!

The Silicon Valley of the Middle East

Home to over 6,000 startups, Tel Aviv earned its recognition as the most innovative city in the world. Nicknamed Silicon Wadi (wadi meaning valley in Arabic), TLV’s startups are building technologies of tomorrow. The government offers incentives to international companies to attract up-and-coming entrepreneurs and businesses, with the goal of helping them succeed in the high- tech sphere. Some people even refer to it as an “Oasis of Innovation,” which we believe is pretty neat.

Home to a Designer Homeless Shelter

Like many big cities, Tel Aviv has a relatively large homeless population. As mentioned before, it is the most expensive city in the world, but it is also a hub for refugees that have a very difficult time assimilating. Tel Aviv opened an $11m shelter for the city’s homeless population designed to look very cool and modern.

A New Way to Get Around: The Light Rail

Tel Aviv is constantly evolving and improving its accommodations. She possesses a pretty European vibe already, but the city started building a tram as a more appealing way to get around. The tram, known as the Dankal, will go above and below ground and is almost finished after 10 years of nonstop construction. Tel Avivians are extremely excited about it since it will change the entire vibe of the city, not to mention it will be unbelievably tourist friendly.

Super Green

Now that you’ve been reading about Israel, you can assume it’s a very innovative place. Tel Aviv is the hub of all of that progression; providing people with rights, freedom, and protection. However, all of Israel is consistently evolving and doing its part to help the world. Over ninety percent of Israelis utilize solar energy in their homes to heat their water, the highest number per capita in the world. Other green initiatives include the municipality focusing directly and heavily on sustainability. The city has a strategic plan put into place to create a desired green urban environment.

The Most Expensive City In the World

Tel Aviv was recently declared the most expensive city in the world by a global research group. Based on the high cost of living in terms of groceries, essentials, and housing, TLV’s not a cheap place to live. Those who manage to make it work definitely have some struggles financially. Definitely don’t let the currency exchange fool you and make sure to budget appropriately when you come to visit.

An Accepting, Friendly Place

Tel Aviv was named the world’s best international LGBTQ city by voters all over the world. As the most recommended city for members of this community, the city hosts the largest Gay Pride parade in Asia and the Middle East. In addition to that fun fact, it ranked 7th in the world for gay happiness. Israel is one of the most progressive countries in the Middle East, especially when it comes to human rights. Additionally, the country treats women equally and with full rights, making it the only one in the Middle East. Just another reason to absolutely love Israel and Tel Aviv!

Dog to Human Ratio

There is 1 dog for every 17 people in Tel Aviv, meaning there are about 37,151 dogs and counting. That puts Tel Aviv at number 3 in the world in terms of dog-friendly cities. Plan to walk around? Then definitely expect to see an adorable pooch on your path! Most of the dogs you’ll see are rescues because the residents of Tel Aviv are unbelievably compassionate towards animals. There is a large number of vegans and vegetarians, even thousands of cat ladies throughout the city who feed the strays. Back to dogs, however, to give you an idea of how dog-crazed Tel Aviv is, there is a dog festival where hundreds of dogs shmooze and celebrate their beautiful lives together. Dogs are offered massages, gluten-free treats, specialty dog-friendly sushi and inspiring dog-themed art is for sale. If you don’t have a dog, especially in Florentine (a neighborhood known for canines) and certain other areas of the city, it can truly affect your social life. There are even multiple apps based on your dog’s social life such as Tailblaze and Playmates, a Tinder for dogs.

The Mediterranean Capital of Cool

“The Capital of Cool in the Mediterranean” was what the New York Times nicknamed Tel Aviv and it is definitely fitting. Known for all of the aforementioned reasons, like unique style, fantastic parties and incredible food, the cool list goes on and on. We challenge you to go to Tel Aviv and not immediately feel her unique energy.

TLDR: Tel Aviv is unlike any city in the world. People travel from far and wide to get a taste of the magic we Tel Avivians know and love. TLV is hands down THE place to add to your bucket list and is most definitely worth your time to visit!

Guidelines and tips on wearing, depending on the place and time in Israel.

Casual wear

The day-to-day attire consists of really whatever you are comfortable wearing. T-shirts, shorts, pants, sandals, and sneakers are completely acceptable. Maybe a hat and some sunglasses are advised in the summertime.

Formal wear

There are multiple articles of clothing that can be worn to dressier events, but to put it simply, the dress code for these events usually equals casual dressy to business casual. A pair of nice jeans, slacks, button-ups, dresses, or blouses are usually worn to more formal events, such as symphonies, plays, and so forth. Although not common, jackets are sometimes worn with a suit and it’s pretty rare to witness ties or gowns at any formal event (unless you are invited to an event where the dress code is specifically addressed).

Hiking

It may be appealing to wear a simple tank top and shorts on a hiking trail or a nature excursion, but this actually may work against you. Because of the intense heat and humidity (during the summer), it’s better to cover up your skin with light, airy clothing to at least block some of the direct sunlight away from your skin (and after the use of a hefty application of sunscreen).

Read about Tel Aviv shopping

Israeli markets and clothing shops sell light pants and thin t-shirts that are meant for these exact scenarios. It’s also suggested to buy the proper hiking shoes for these trips, or durable sandals that work great with the outside elements while allowing your feet to breath. Lastly, bringing a hat and sunglasses on these trips is a must, as it helps to prevent dehydration, heat strokes, and sunburns.

Religious sites & neighborhoods

When traveling from Tel Aviv hotel to holy sites and religious neighborhoods, it’s important to dress conservatively and show respect for the surrounding people and environment. These locations won’t always permit entry to those that are not dressed modestly.

Modest clothing consists of covering a majority of the body (such as the shoulders, arms, legs and chest), especially for women. This includes long-sleeved shirts, over-the-knee skirts, and completely covering the chest area. Men usually have to cover their head, which at the bare minimum can be a disposable paper skull cap that is offered at some holy sites. Unfortunately, there is no way around these clothing requirements, even in the height of the summer, but at least you can enjoy the breathtaking historical sites of Israel hassle free.

Being a city rooted in the history of billions of people, filled with hundreds of different cultures, bursting with energy, sprouting with new faces and ideas, beautifully located on the mediterranean sea, it is no wonder Tel Aviv is one of the world’s most desired vacation destinations. Visiting Tel Aviv is a no-brainer as it has something for everyone, whether that is food, activities, shopping, or most famously nightlife and sightseeing! So the real question is how to plan your trip to get the absolute most out of your vacation, and that starts with where you stay!

Things To Do In Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv has many activities and things to do, so when booking a hotel it is important to figure out what is nearby so you can check everything off your list! As one of the top ten beach destinations in the world, staying on the beach is a must! Not only does it allow easy access to all of the city’s oceanic affairs, but it also provides an easy way to get around- the boardwalk! The boardwalk extends all the way down into the can’t miss the city of Jaffa and is a very safe and scenic route.

Top Of The Line Restaurants

With amazing restaurants specializing in vegan, kosher, vegetarian, Mediterranean, cafe, and more, figuring out which hotel has the widest arrangement of top-of-the-line restaurants close by is a must! While there are amazing restaurants scattered all around the city, a traveler’s top-secret is that the area with the greatest and most diverse restaurants is on the central section of the beach. Some first picks are Fortuna Del Mar, Taizu, CafeXoho, Cafe de Paris, and Otello Gelato for a sweet treat!

Tel Aviv’s World-Renowned Nightlife

The beach once again takes the cake for the best nightlife in Tel Aviv. For a wild night out at the club, Shalvata, Port, and Lighthouse await you. If a bar is more your style you can find yourself having the night of a lifetime at Minzar, Alma Beach, or even LaMer if a relaxing hookah bar suits your fancy.

Safety

Compared to many other cities around the world and especially in America, Tel Aviv’s crime rate is exceedingly low, however needless to say it is always important to make sure the area you stay in is as safe as possible. These areas would be any of the more popular areas throughout the city such as Neve Tzedek, Rothschild, Florentine, or anywhere along the boardwalk.

COVID 19 Protocol

Unfortunately with the global pandemic still going on, COVID protocols are often at the forefront of a traveler’s mind. Luckily, Israel’s COVID rate is beginning to decrease as third vaccinations and green passes are becoming more and more apparent. With that said, the best-rated hotels in Tel Aviv tend to be extremely clean and covid safe. The Carlton in particular is known for its work with the Israeli Ministry of Health and determination to keep guests safe and COVID-free.

Prioritizing Your Business

Finding the right hotel for all business endeavors is important. When it comes to business, the key is to find a hotel that cares about your success just as much as you do. You can find this to be the case at any of Tel Aviv’s Luxe hotels which almost all have designated business and meeting areas.

Pricing

Getting a great hotel for a good price is a high priority. Hotels in Tel Aviv can vary heavily in price from extremely cheap (but typically not ideal), to in some cases out of the price range. The key is to find the best hotel for a reasonable price. The Carlton Tel Aviv once again is a good example of this. With top-of-the-line amenities and rooms, and a staff that truly cares about your stay and safety, rooms starting from $300 dollars a night is a deal that you can’t pass up.

The Carlton – Your Best Choice

Let The Carlton maximize your stay in Tel Aviv with its beautiful beachfront location, amazing restaurants both nearby and in-house, fantastic night scene, top-of-the-line safety and amenities, and highly prioritized business accommodations. For whatever the purpose of your stay may be, there is no better place to see it through than The Carlton Hotel.

Ensuring A Great Stay

In order to find the perfect hotel anywhere, it is necessary to look at all of the priorities you have for your trip. That is why The Carlton is proud to provide you with a stay like none other in the most sought-after location in all of Tel Aviv!

7 things you should consider when planning Accommodation https://www.carlton.co.il/en/en/good2know/7-things-you-should-consider-when-planning-accommodation/ Thu, 29 Jul 2021 09:45:39 +0000 https://www.carlton.co.il/7-things-you-should-consider-when-planning-accommodation/ Are you planning a vacation? One of the first things you’ll need to consider is your accommodation. Where you stay is a crucial factor in determining if you’ll have an enjoyable trip. There are several options when it comes to the type of place you could stay in - hotels, AirBnBs, rental houses, motels, and more. Whichever you decide, there are so many accommodations to choose from - especially with the use of the internet - so you may be struggling to compare them. That’s why we have made a list of seven things you need to check when planning the right place for accommodation.

The post 7 things you should consider when planning Accommodation appeared first on The Carlton Tel Aviv Hotel.

]]>
1. Location

Perhaps the most important thing to check when planning your accommodation is its location. You probably know the general location you want to visit, but you’ll want to be mindful of your hotel’s distance from specific sites, restaurants, beaches, etc. If a hotel is far away from most of the things you want to do, you have to consider transportation which can be time-consuming and costly – so, that accommodation might not be the best option for you.

2. Rooms

You’ll want to pay attention to the type and quality of rooms and accommodation offers. Size, closet space, in-room amenities, bathrooms and beds are some specifics you should look into. An establishment usually has photos of the rooms on its website to help you decide whether or not it will be suitable for you.

3. Services

The services a hotel offers to guests can be a decisive factor in choosing a hotel. For example, some hotels have amenities such as pools, spas, restaurants, gyms, and events/activities. These services are important to look into, especially if the location, rooms, and pricing of several hotels are similar and you are looking for details to differentiate between them.

4. Price

Considering the price of an accommodation is not as exciting as some of the other factors, but it is necessary. If you have an overall budget for your trip, consider how much of that budget you want to spend on your accommodations as opposed to other expenses like flights, food, outings, etc. If you are searching for an accommodation online, there is usually a way to narrow down your search to a specific price range. This will help make it easier to filter out places that don’t fit your budget.

5. Reviews and Rating

An important thing to consider when looking at a hotel is its reputation. You can look at both customer reviews and the hotel’s star rating. Find out specifically what customers liked and did not like about the establishment because what’s important to the reviewer might not be as important to you, and vice versa.

6. Safety

In order to feel secure during your stay, you should choose an accommodation that has good security and safety measures. Check to see if a hotel has a way to regulate who enters the lobby, and a good system for locking the rooms. Also, consider the safety measures in place for unexpected disasters such as fires. Just like you would know what to do in this type of emergency in your own home, it is important to be well-prepared on your vacation as well.

7. Pet rules

If you are planning on taking your pet on vacation with you, the first thing you’ll want to check about an establishment is whether they allow pets. Many places won’t allow you to bring your pet with you, so you can rule those out right away. If a hotel is pet-friendly, look into whether they have facilities specific to pets. For example, some hotels will care for your pet when you’re out of the hotel.

Planning An Accommodation in Tel Aviv

If you are planning a trip to Tel Aviv and are looking for a hotel, look no further than Carlton Tel Aviv hotel. Carlton is in an exceptional location – right on the beach and near some of the best restaurants and neighborhoods in the city. The rooms and services are top-notch, offering a variety of suite and room options with exquisite views, and amenities that set it apart from other Tel Aviv hotels. The Carlton also has three in-house dining options, including one on the beach! The Carlton is one of the best hotels in Tel Aviv, so you can be sure your trip will be one to remember.

Whether you are visiting Tel Aviv or somewhere else, you can choose the best accommodation for you by using the tips above. Hopefully, this guide will make your planning easier and more enjoyable. Happy vacationing!

When you newly visit a country, the country’s culture and background can be confusing to you. Even if this is your first time around the country or not, it can be quite difficult to simply fit right in and enjoy your vacation. Israel is a huge state and getting used to the landscape, and people could come across as stressful. Below are some expert tips that will ensure that you enjoy your vacation in Israel and have an awesome time.

Spare Time to Hike Through the Back Country

There are so many sides to Israel, and the only way to have a full experience is to also check out the deserts and the camels instead of sticking to the modernized areas. You can follow a hiking group through the backcountry or use a tour service; this allows you to really experience the breathtaking view of the deep-south. Hiking or traveling through the backcountry would make for a memorable and exciting experience, and you could even come across some camels on your way.

Check out the Supermarket

Sometimes, visiting the supermarket might get you prepared for the weekend. You could also come across some unique things that you could take home to family and friends. You could buy some water bottles to take along on your tour or try out some new snacks that would make for a great story when you finally head back home. Always ask for what would give you that ‘Israeli exposure’. Ensure you take some local currency along on your way because some supermarkets in Israel require some change before you can get a grocery store.

Check Online Reviews for Answers

Getting answers to questions could turn out to be a difficult feat if you ask Israelis; this is because you’re more likely to get different answers from everyone you meet, and you’d be more confused than when you started. However, there are groups on Facebook and other social media platform where other vacationers and locals leave information about everything to help you get started. This information could vary from the best meal to try out to the best eateries and things to do on your stay; information like this could go a long way to simplify your stay in Israel.

Buy the Right Tools

Many people don’t get the best experience while in the country because they don’t have the right tools to enhance their vacation. Some vacationers simply do not have any internet connection for fear of expenses but getting a working sim can be quite easy. It will help you stay connected at all times and use Google Maps if you are uncertain where you are or where you’re going. If you also intend to go on hikes, it wouldn’t hurt to get yourself some good sandals so that your feet don’t hurt and a camera to capture every part of your amazing stay in Israel.

Try out the Local Coffee

This is a distinctive experience not to be missed out on; trying out the local food and drink makes for a wholesome holiday experience. Take out time in a café and simply relax while sipping on one of the best local coffee in the region. You could try out the Hafuch latte that is simply a cup of espresso coffee but is topped with warm milk; buy a cup of café shachor if you like your coffee black, or simply get an iced coffee. Enjoy the scenery as you savor the taste of your chosen latte.

Figure Out How the Public Transportation Work

While the public transport system in Israel is quite functional, there are some tips that will help you figure out how the transportation system works and the right time to hop on. The trains in Israel are operated in such a manner that interaction is promoted among passengers. You can also use transit apps on your smartphones to get info about how the public transit works.

Though we try our best to be as accurate as possible – double-checking the details below is strongly advised during these extraordinary times due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Tel Aviv is one of the greatest cities and a top destination to visit in the Middle East and the world.

The main highlight is the Tel Aviv Beaches- a 14 kilometers Mediterranean Sea coastline that offers an incredible combination of fine white sands and shimmering crystal-clear blue waters, all bathed in the golden sun.

So without further adieu, here some of the best Tel Aviv Beaches from North to South:

Mona Beach / Hof HaTzuk

Mona Beach / Hof HaTzuk (“The Cliff Beach” in Hebrew) is a long beach in which you’ll always find space even when most crowded, with plenty of free parking spaces, dress rooms, showers, restrooms, restaurants, and the mandatory lifeguards.

During the peak summer season (June-August) there’s an entrance fee unless you’re a Tel Aviv resident – which can be proved with a Tel Aviv Resident card. In other months, access is free for all.

About a half-hour from there, you can find Cinema City in Glilot, one of the best cinema malls in Israel that spans 30 cinema halls, and also many shops and restaurants.

Hilton Beach

Hilton Beach is one of the nicest, cleanest, and somewhat secluded options, considered as Tel Aviv’s most high society beach, located just underneath the Hilton Hotel.

It has storage space, rental chairs and beds, WiFi, accessibility for disabled people and nighttime lighting, a great beach bar and restaurant that also makes deliveries on the beach – including bringing people arctic ice-lollies, as well as the TopSea surf club and the Sea Centre Club that offers windsurfing and kayaking classes, with special lessons for beginners and children.

Bring your flip-flops as getting into the sea involves stepping on a few rocks.

North of the beach lies a magical land where dogs can run free and frolic in the sand- the perfect place for canine lovers.

Gordon, Frishman & Bograshov Beaches

These “big three” are regarded as the most popular and crowded Tel Aviv beaches:

Gordon Beach, opposite the Sheraton Hotel, boasts volleyball courts and a lovely saltwater swimming pool surrounded by lawns. On the boardwalk, a myriad of restaurants serves huge portions of Israeli classics. After sundown, outdoor beach bars provide partiers with DJs, drinks, and dancing.

Frishman Beach, with shallow entry into the water, is a great family beach with volleyball courts, a fitness trail, many restaurants and bars within close proximity on the promenade, first-aid, lifeguards, bathrooms, beach chairs, and umbrellas for rent.

Bograshov Beach just steps away from a wide range of delicious eateries. It has lots of shaded areas and gazebos, areas with showers to wash off the sand, bikes stands to rent bikes, and just ride around.

Aviv Beach

Away from the central beaches, this beach (AKA Dolphinarium Beach, Drummers Beach, or Banana Beach) has a relaxed fun atmosphere.

On Fridays, there’s a big communal drum session with an eclectic crowd of youthful revelers and belly dancers moving barefoot to infectious drum beats, residents and musicians playing percussion instruments, clapping, or dancing.

Other advantages are Clara, a massive outdoor bar and club, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea with a gorgeous Jaffa’s skyline view; sports like kayaking, a surfing school and club, windsurfing, volleyball fields; rentable chairs and beds, and its accessibility to disabled people.

Alma and Charles Clore Beach

This is a very chilled beach, without sunbeds or lifeguards – a perfect place to check out the beautiful views of Jaffa.

Charles Clore Garden is a 30-acre seaside park perfectly complementing Tel Aviv’s shoreline. The green lawns with the sand and sea make it a beautiful place for an afternoon, with a playground including a rope pyramid, fountains jetting from concrete, a yoga platform, an outdoor gym, and barbecue areas. You can absorb the culture in the park’s sculpture garden which includes work by Israeli artist and sculptor Ilana Goor or visit The Etzel Museum.

South of the beach is an area reserved for dog owners, where you can let your dogs frolic in the sand.

Being an avid luxury-seeker, I was drawn to Tel Aviv’s exquisite spa hotels along the beach. After browsing through the reviews of numerous luxury spa hotels in the area, I stumbled upon the Carlton Tel Aviv Hotel, which had a string of consistent 4.5 Star Ratings from customers on Trip Advisor. Not only did the hotel have encouraging reviews, but it had also won numerous awards and accolades for its services. Apart from this, it was famous for being a safe Gay Hotel in Tel Aviv along the beachside. Impressed by their success record, I decided to spend the rest of my vacation in Israel at the Carlton Tel Aviv.

About an hour after I landed at the airport, I arrived at my room and unloaded my luggage. The hotel staff was very cordial and receptive to all my needs. Even though it was 5 o’clock in the morning, they exuded dynamism and were very prompt in their service. Despite their infectious energy, I was still worn out from the nonstop destination-hopping that took place in the last few days. To my relief, the day ahead was going to be filled with rejuvenation and indulgence.

By noon, I was done with the “perspiration” aspect of my spa experience. It was now time to refuel and relax.

Leading Attractions in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is considered Israel’s cultural capital. The city’s slogan is “the city that never sleeps”. It is home to one of the oldest ports in the world (located in Jaffa), a bustling culinary scene, art galleries, parks, museums, unique architecture, stunning beaches and many additional attractions for couples, adults and children. With so many attractions, it’s hard to choose the cream of the crop. Nevertheless, we rose to the challenge and composed a list of the places you simply cannot afford to miss during your visit to Tel Aviv.

Tel Aviv Museums

Tel Aviv is home to over twenty museums, including the Eretz Israel Museum, Bialik House, The Tel Aviv Museum of Art, The Palmach Museum, The IDF History Museum, Ben Gurion House and more. Beit Hatfutsot is ideal for visitors of all ages, and its fascinating exhibitions depict Jewish life all over the world. The Nahum Gutman Museum of Art is a one-of-a-kind art museum that showcases the portfolio of a unique artist, alongside other leading Israeli artist exhibitions. The museum is located in an historic building erected in 1887 in picturesque Neve Tzedek. The Steinhardt Museum of Natural History places high on our list. It caters to children but adults will enjoy it, as well. The Yitzhak Rabin Center allows visitors to become acquainted with the life and influence of Yitzhak Rabin, who was tragically assassinated while serving as Israel’s Prime Minister.

Markets in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is home to many diverse markets that showcase just about everything, from food and clothing to art and antiques. Tel Aviv’s best-known market is probably Carmel Market. Some say it is a reflection of Israeli society. It has everything: food stands, handmade goods, food products, spices, clothing and footwear, home appliances, flowers and more. Another famous market is Jaffa’s Flea Market. It’s just so much fun to wander through this market and look for awesome second-hand stuff. The Nahalat Binyamin Arts & Crafts Fair is yet another great place to purchase special handmade gifts. This pedestrian mall is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from the morning to the late afternoon. Tel Aviv Port, the Boardwalk and the Beach. A major part of Tel Aviv’s splendor comes from its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. The city is filled with amazing seaside locations for people of all ages. We recommend visiting the Old Port in Jaffa, strolling along the Boardwalk and taking a dip in Tel Aviv’s Mediterranean waters.

Tel Aviv Shows, Bars, Cafes, Restaurants and Clubs

Tel Aviv is a haven for theatre, dance and live music. Habima Theatre is Israel’s national theatre, and runs original theatre productions alongside plays from all over the world. The Cameri Theatre is also very high-class. Cabaret theatre lovers should check out the popular Zappa Club. Couples looking for a Tel Aviv party should visit one of the city’s popular nightclubs, where they’ll be able to dance to the break of dawn. Adults visiting the city can enjoy a wide variety of cafes, restaurants and bars. From intimate neighborhood establishments to huge spots with live music – there’s something for everyone. Tel Aviv never rests, and new attractions open on a regular basis. You will need transportation to get there from most hotels in Tel Aviv, call for a cab before you leave your room and one will be waiting for you as you step out of the lobby. Tel Aviv Nightlife 2019

In Israel, Tel Aviv is known as “the city that never sleeps”, and the main reason for this title is it’s rich nightlife. Honestly, if nightlife is high on your priorities when choosing a destination for your next trip, then Tel Aviv would be a good choice.

Young community

Israel is a small country, the size of New Jersey, and Tel Aviv is not only the commercial capital of the holy land, but also it’s cultural capital. The reality of many Israeli’s dictates a full military service, after which young adults start their lives. And most of them choose to start their lives in Tel Aviv. This creates a situation in which most of the county’s young people are located in one place, and the result is a young vibe throughout the city and a buzzing nightlife scene.

Areas where Tel Aviv action is concentrated

There are two main areas where the action is concentrated in: around Ben Gurion blvd. and around Rothschild blvd. The area around Ben Gurion is a bit more “mainstream” and provides plenty of bars (Dizengoff street) while also being very close to the beach, where during the summer there is plenty going there as thousands of people flock the boardwalk which stretches through all of Tel Aviv’s glorious beaches.

Hypster Tel Aviv vibes

Rothschild blvd offers a more “hypster” kind of vibe, with excellent clubs for fans of all kinds of music: Electronic, Techno, Mainstream pop and hip hop. There are special nights every Thursday and Friday for fans of more specific genres, like 80’s and 90’s fans. Backstreet’s back alright!

Culinary capital of Israel

On top of all that, as you might have guessed, Tel Aviv is also the culinary capital of Israel, so in case you are hungry after a night out, no worries. It’s worth to note that Israel boasts a supreme experience for foodies, by fusing many influences. Just as Israel was founded on immigrants coming in from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, so does it’s rich culinary tapestry, like the delicious authentic Yemeni food in the “Yemeni vinyard” on the south side of the city or trendy far east and mediteranean fusions that will make your taste buds come to life.
Tel Aviv truly has a plethora of nightlife options for everyone. And just as important, the crowd and vibes to make every night an adventure in the “city that never sleeps”.

The Green North – Traveling with Children in Northern Israel

One of the most beautiful regions in Israel is the green and picturesque north. This region offers a variety of tracks and trails with abundant streams, mountains and forests. It awaits you, so just bring plenty of water and high spirits. To connect first-hand to the region’s wondrous nature visit the Golan Heights, the Upper Galilee, the Western Galilee, the northern coastal region and the distant border areas.

Rosh Hanikra is one of most northern spots of our small country, located near Nahariya and overlooking Israel’s Mediterranean coastline, where the sea meets the cliffs. The site offers one of the spectacular observation points in Israel, with a cable car that takes you down to the sea grottoes as you enjoy the breathtaking view while traveling up and down. When traveling with children the accompanying history of a location, a testament to its uniqueness, is not less importance. Rosh Hanikra, located on an ancient coastal route, offers a fascinating and rich history, along with marine attractions and adventures for the entire family.

Traveling with Children to the Red South

Yes, the south is red (it rhymes in Hebrew – hadarom hu adom) – red hot in summer, with brown-yellow-reddish earth tones, and covered with a magnificent carpet of scarlet red anemones in full bloom after the rainy season. If you want to visit the southern region with children, you can begin with the breathtaking landscape of the Negev desert with its reddish desert terrain. The unique view is that of untouched and majestic vastness, of crevices, streams and unique plant life. Among the places that are a must for those traveling with children in Israel in general and in the south in particular, are Masada, Poreh Nature Reserve, Ein Bokek, the David stream, Ein Ovdat and Kibbutz Be’eri. Enjoy the best landscapes the southern region of Israel has to offer at the beautiful Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, Avdat National Park, festivals in the Arava, breathtaking observation points such as Mitzpeh Ramon, and of course the Dead Sea.

Traveling with Children in Israel – Urban Tours in Tel Aviv

You don’t always have to travel long distances to enjoy a wonderful trip with children every day of the week, including Saturdays and holidays. Sometimes charming spots are under our noses and around the corner, short urban tours for perfect sunny days. If you want to stay in the Tel Aviv area, how about visiting the picturesque streets of the beautiful and historic Neve Tzedek area. In this southern you can see the unique architecture of old Tel Aviv alongside urban art hubs and plenty of neighborhood ice cream parlors! Close by to the south you can visit ancient Jaffa where you can walk along the port and enjoy the vibrant flea market. How about a walk along one of the most colourful and iconic streets in Tel Aviv, Rothschild Boulevard? Located in the heart of the White City of Tel Aviv, this is a vibrant tree-lined street with restaurants and coffee kiosks. The boulevard leads to the Habima National Theater square where you can sip coffee while the kids play in the sunken garden.

Traveling with Children in Jerusalem – A Magical Capital

When traveling with children in Israel, Jerusalem is a wonderful city to visit. It is not only the city that was “connected together”, but a fascinating capital that brings together history, heritage, rich cultural variety and the magic of a city going back thousands of years. The pleasant Ein Kerem neighborhood offers short tours along picturesque streets surrounded by numerous restaurants and cafés. Also, don’t forget to visit the German Colony neighborhood with its story-like small streets, and don’t miss the unique Biblical Zoo and the pastoral and colorful Nachlaot neighborhood.

Tips for Tourists in Israel

Israel is a very tourist-friendly country. Most Israelis speak basic-level English. Streets and roads are easy to navigate. The country is filled with tourist attractions, as well as organized tours for tourists. Despite this, visiting Israel can sometimes be complicated. That is why we gathered some valuable tourist tips. It’s not a list of places to visit. Rather, it is a list of recommendations that will help tourists in Israel get the most out of their vacation.

Take Your Time

Whether you’re only in Israel for a day or enjoying a long vacation in Tel Aviv hotels, trying to “see it all” is not recommended. Rather, we recommend you take your time and select a few choice spots. That way, you will have time to talk with the locals, take leisurely walks, taste street food, relax at the beach, go out on a night on the town and take it easy at the hotel when necessary.

Israel is abundant with attractions. Racing from one archeological site to another, while trying to fit in as many museums as possible, will leave you breathless and frustrated. You’ll feel like you’ve missed your chance to truly get to know Israel and its diverse blend of cultures.

Plan Ahead – But Be Spontaneous

It is very important to plan your trip in Israel. It is no less important to allow yourself to change your plans on the fly. Israel is filled with surprises, and even organized tour guides sometimes change their plans in order to provide their tourist groups with a spontaneous experience.

Visit Places – And Meet the People

Israel is fascinating, and there is no shortage of places to visit. But Israel’s people are just as fascinating as its sites. When you visit tourist attractions, be sure to talk to the employees and people nearby, listen to their political views and anecdotes, and write down their personal recommendations (which won’t be listed on any websites or magazines).

Israel is culturally diverse, as Jews from all over the world have made it their home. If you remain engaged, initiate conversations, ask questions and listen, you will get a glimpse of Israel’s true reality. You may even make friends and remain in touch with the wonderful people you’ve met on your trip.

Choose What Works for You

Due to Israel’s abundance of attractions, it is important that you choose those that fit your individual preferences. For example, if you enjoy extreme sports you can dive, climb, surf, bike, hike and more. If you prefer relaxing, be sure to visit the Dead Sea – the ultimate relaxation spot in Israel. History buffs will enjoy the cities of Jaffa, Akko and Tiberias, among others. Those interested in religion will find many holy sites for Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths.

Organized Trips Can Be an Excellent Way to Enjoy Israel

Some people like to travel independently and plan everything themselves. If you’re one of those people, we urge you not to rule out organized tours in Israel. Organized tours do not have to take up the entire duration of your trip – you can join one-day, two-day or three-day tours. For example, you can visit the Dead Sea and Masada on an organized tour. The same goes for Jerusalem. You can even take a two-day jeep excursion to the desert.

Tips from tourists who have visited Israel in the past can help you plan your ideal vacation. Search for tips for tourists in Israel on travel websites, travel blogs and forums. Ask questions and collect valuable information. Enjoy your journey!

Tel Aviv White Night 2019

Tel Aviv has many names; The 1st Hebrew city, The city that never sleeps, the White city…and while all are true, it’s the latter that gets extra meaning during the famous festivities of the “White Night”, or as it’s called in Hebrew “Layla Lavan”.

Time to celebrating till morning

Every year around the months of May and June, Tel Aviv celebrates this event and people stay up all night, businesses work just like daytime, including city services and stores that will stay open till 6 AM. Everything is up and running. But that’s not all, the city organizes fun and interesting activities throughout it’s venues and public areas. The parks, beaches, restaurants, bars, museums, theatres and every commercial, cultural and culinary outlet takes part in this weekend.

White Night lineup 16-18 of May 2019

A special musical event celebrating 110 years of Tel Aviv, Flea market open all night, A greek Tavern in old Jaffa port, Israeli Rock’n’roll at the old station compound with some of the most popular rock bands in the country performing, A branded lifeguard hut on the beach, a nightlife tour of the city and much much more. It’s worth to note that as this year’s events are in light of the Eurovision contest, there will also be exhibitions highlighting this event and its rich history.
The Tel Aviv Eat Food Festival at Charles Clore Park has become an annual favorite in Tel Aviv, bringing together food trucks from some of Tel Aviv’s best chefs. The prices of all the dishes are up to 35 NIS only and the entrance is free.

White Night – Music Night

Malabi Tropical is a band that mixes Tropical and eastern-European music, Balkan melodies and Latin rhythms. The band utilizes an unusual array of instruments – Accordion, Charango, Guitar, Bouzouki, Conga, Timbales and Saxophone, and a booty-shaking irresistible groove.
Weather you are an art fan, history buff, foodie or just an explorer, your passions will be met during these wonderful days, when the city opens itself up towards another hot summer on the mediteranean beaches. Finally, before you book your trip to Tel Aviv, take into consideration that you should stay in a place that offers you the best this city has to offer. In the city center, and with wonderful accommodation.

It’s been 8 years since the city of Tel-Aviv claimed the prestigious award “the best gay city in the world 2011” by gaycities.com and the deep-rooted relationship between the city of Tel-Aviv and the LGBTQ community keeps on blossoming. Known around the world not just as a liberal oasis amongst less than friendly neighbors but also as a place where sunlight, great weather, tasty food, and award-winning nightlife combines with a liberal, all accepting atmosphere, and countless LGBTQ Hubs. Combining this with the beaches surrounding Tel-Aviv from north to south, the city is no less than a gay paradise, a lesbian eldorado, a queer promised land, etc.

For example – The Shpagat in Nahalat Binyamin 43 is a gay owned and operated pub mixing nightly atmosphere with Mediterranean vibes

Culinary LGBTQ scene in Tel Aviv

Kuli Alma In Mikveh Israel 10 combines art, music, hospitality, and fun and is another community hotspot
In the culinary scene, a big percent of businesses are operated by and for the LGBTQ community, mixing the knowledge gained around the world with influences of the surrounding kitchens
Joz veloz in Gevulot 5 is an established restaurant with a rich and colorful menu and LGBTQ influences in every stone and marble.
L26 in Lilinblum 26 is newer and more modern cuisine-oriented, with a farm to table approach and an appreciation for fresh produce and urban cooking with an everchanging menu. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, Tel-Aviv is also one of the world’s friendliest cities in this department, with fantastic vegan restaurants like Meshek Barzilai (ehad ha’am 6), Anastasia (Frishman 54) and the amazing Bana (Nahmani 36).

Month of Pride

During June all of these components join forces in creating a month of pride – month-long celebrations and events encircling all things LGBTQ, the crown jewel is, of course, the rainbow-colored pride parade, taking place this year at June 14, with live music, food, and great vibes. Clubs around the city will open their gates in parties varying in colors, music, preferences, etc. (the Drek line, the Arisa line, the Beefcake line)

If you prefer the comfort of the movie screen, with air conditioning and artful materials, Tel-Aviv will also host the 14th installment of the international LGBT Movie Festival, with local and foreign movies and special guests, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Pride of Tel Aviv

21 years after Dana International made history and won the 1998 Eurovision song contest with a message of hope and equality, Tel-Aviv can pride themselves, in the year of hosting the competition after another Israeli Diva won it, to be genuinely proud and international.

Tel Aviv Markets

Market culture has really taken off in Israel, and Tel Aviv is no exception. Although not always cheaper than buying in a supermarket, it is certainly more fun to shop in the markets (shuk). The shuk traditionally sells a plethora of fruit, vegetables, nuts and herbs amongst many other types of high quality produce. Dotted around the Tel Aviv city you will find a treasure trove within the various Tel Aviv markets – some covered, some open to the elements.

A Selection of Markets

Tel Aviv offers a wide range of traditional as well as trendy markets. Shuk Hacarmel, just behind the coastline is filled to the brim with food, flowers, Judaica, clothes, and some excellent restaurants, while Nahalat Binyamin boats a huge selection of fabric and haberdashery shops with arts and crafts stalls on Tuesdays and Fridays. Levinsky Food Market located in the trendy neighborhood of Florentine sells spices, eastern food based on the traditions of Iran, Iraq and Kurdistan to name but a few. Jaffa’s Flea Market, or its more colorful title of Shuk Hapishpishim has permanent stores selling luxury, vintage and second hand goods including furniture, homeware and home furnishings, jewellery, and clothes.

In recent years more modern additions have sprung up on the market scene Sarona Market – a colorful, culinary experience which includes some 100 stores selling locally produced wares such as cheeses, spices, meats and many more. Within the Sarona Market food connoiseurs can choose one of the 40 restaurants to partake of fine food created by Israel’s most famous chefs, as well as in well-known international chains.

More about Tel Aviv

The Rothschild-Allenby Market is the latest permanent offering and the newest kid on the block, having opened in early 2017. A covered market, its food stalls and familiarly named take-away stalls offer a mouth watering selection of dishes.

New market

In Spring 2017 a pop up market, Urban Zone Tel Aviv, opened at the Gindi Fashion Mall, in the center of Tel Aviv, and will operate until the end of August. A world food market, visitors will find everything from Indian crepes to Hong Kong style waffles, and so much more!
However, what all the markets have in common is the abundance of cafes and restaurants, as in Israel it is always time to eat and drink!

How to do business in Israel? 6 Business Etiquette Tips and Tricks https://www.carlton.co.il/en/en/good2know/how-to-do-business-in-israel-6-business-etiquette-tips-and-tricks/ Tue, 23 Apr 2019 08:09:38 +0000 https://www.carlton.co.il/how-to-do-business-in-israel-6-business-etiquette-tips-and-tricks/ Business etiquette simply relies on a certain set of manners that are accepted within a group or organization. When conducting business abroad, this “business etiquette” can lead to a complexity of added cultural differences and varying social norms. Essentially, a tailored business etiquette is required for each and every business destination.

A few business etiquette tips and tricks

Proper Attire

Always wear clothes that make you the most comfortable.
As it is more common to dress business casual in Israel, most Israelis respect and even appreciate when foreigners dress in a formal suit and tie, just as they would in their own country. In fact, dressing down to fit into the typical Israeli attire creates confusion and may eliminate the possibility of making a noticeable (and attractive) first impression. After the first impression, it is acceptable to dress more casually, such as leaving your tie behind or getting rid of the heavy jacket.
When conducting business with religious business partners, it is advised for women to wear more conservative clothing.

Gestures & Facial Expressions

In business, Israelis usually form close-knit, collaborative business groups, which essentially eliminate the concept of any type of business hierarchy. With that said, everyone on the team equally voices their opinion, which may allow for more flexibility in negotiations and constant modifications in a developing business plan.
Sometimes common gestures, such as handshakes, are not offered right off the bat. However, you should not take offense to this and still offer your own handshake as a polite gesture.
Israelis often prefer to be addressed by their first name, and it is encouraged to reciprocate this request. This is an easy way to form a quick, initial bond and give the relationship a more intimate, honest approach.

Schedules & Deadlines

Israelis are well-known for their informal planning, resulting in invitations to impromptu meetings and aiming to close deals quickly. Being flexible (and accommodating in recommended Tel Aviv hotel) in your schedule is something that will not go unnoticed, especially for future business plans.

Religion

When working with religious business partners, you should refrain from physical contact, especially with the opposite sex. You can simply greet them with a verbal queue and a smile or head nod. Let them make the first move.
It is also important to note that workdays are Sunday through Thursday, usually between 9AM to 5/6PM. The Sabbath (sundown on Friday until one hour past sundown on Saturday) is a nationally observed holiday and nearly all business comes to a halt.
If you are hosting an event involving food or drink, it is customary to ask Israelis if they have special dietary requirements (or observe Kashrut) so you can plan accordingly.

Language & Verbal Queues

International business in Israel is conducted in English, while local business is conducted in Hebrew. It may be a good idea to get a language interpreter to avoid language barriers or to eliminate any confusion when conducting business.
As Israelis are known to be energetic and expressive, you should not be offended or frightened when they raise their voice or gesture with their hands; it’s a cultural norm.
Although gregarious by nature, Israelis are still conservative about personal aspects of their life. Be sensitive to such topics like army service, political views, etc.

Gifts

Giving a gift helps to strengthen the bond with your business partners, especially when they invite you to their home. Bringing along a bouquet of flowers or a nice bottle of wine is best for these occasions (make sure it is Kosher to be on the safe side), especially when dietary restrictions are involved.

High season for tourists is most definitely July and August when temperatures hit boiling point and the plethora of beaches dotted around the country, which offer something for every kind of sand lover, fill up. Or for a more relaxed bathing experience outdoor pools are always a welcome treat.
However, do remember that despite the laid-back dress code in most places in the country, you should always carry a scarf to cover up legs and shoulders in case you inadvertently find yourself at a sacred site.

A Guide to Doing Business in Israel

Every business initiative or cooperation that brings together individuals from different backgrounds must first be based on social and cultural understanding of the engaged parties. This sets the groundwork for interpersonal communication that will enable you to close more deals and achieve mutual success. It is important to understand the social and organizational fabric of our small country, and to pay attention to behavior codes and differences that can make or break a deal in one fell swoop. This includes communication style as well as dress code and work pace.

When it comes to business communication style, both face-to-face and correspondence, the Israeli notion of formality differs from customary attitudes in other western countries. Interaction is much more casual and warm, and may even seem boisterous and perhaps aggressive at times. Understanding these cultural features facilitates productive
negotiations positive results. Fashion style is similar to communication style.

The climate in Israel is for the most part warm or hot, and dress is summer oriented, even in the fall months and the very short winter. Thus Israeli’s dress casually both in and out of work. While a certain formal dress code is maintained among professionals and in business
meetings, three-piece suits for example are all but unseen. Ties are not a frequent fashion item and tailored vests and jackets are not part of the routine dress code.

A Fast-Paced Business Environment

When doing business Israelis tend to have a straightforward attitude and a rapid work pace. As a results-oriented culture, an expeditious and “get it done” attitude is characteristic when the details need to be finalized. The term “urgent” takes on a more vigorous meaning in Israel compared to other places in the world, because the emphasis is on always being at the top, in first place.

Business people in Israel recognize that taking one’s time means that someone else will reap the fruits. This may leave little room for hesitation or shyness, so that to achieve your goal you may need some “chutzpah” and elbowing.

As part of the warm and open Israeli character and culture, business interaction often expands to interaction that is more personal. In general, personal closeness can advance professional relations. Those who are not prepared for or used to this type of communication in their business dealings may experience this as intrusion into the private sphere.

Small talk is routine, so that in doing business with Israelis don’t be surprised if the conversation also touches on areas outside the business world. Israelis are usually forthright and direct, and knowing this in advance can help you derive the maximum from your business interactions in Israel and with Israelis.

Israel – Strong Companies and a Vibrant Innovative Business Culture

Among the successful companies at the top of the list are: Teva, Amdocs, Bank Hapoalim, Bank Leumi, Elbit, Intel, Discount Bank, Harel Insurance, Checkpoint, and many other companies with very high market shares.
